Artist's Description
Pastel by Dale Bernard.
The Starry Night is an oil on canvas by the Dutch post-impressionist painter Vincent van Gogh. Painted in June, 1889, it depicts the view (with the notable addition of an idealized village)[1] from the east-facing window of his asylum room at Saint-Rmy-de-Provence, just before sunrise.[2][3] It has been in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City since 1941, acquired through the Lillie P. Bliss Bequest. It is Van Gogh's best-known painting and one of the most recognized monuments in the history of Western culture.
About Dale Bernard
Dale Bernard, creating in the scenic beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, is an artist, designer and a lover of God, animals and nature; inspired by God's creations and the beauty that surrounds her. Dale, has had a love of art from a very young age, but only began painting earnestly in 2010. Lately, Dale has been working with watercolor, but she also loves working in oil, acrylic and pastels. To be truly creative, Dale has found that she needs time alone, time to be away from the busyness of life. "My best art," she says, "is created in solitude. She believes that art is an expression of creativity released. It's also a valuable outlet to relax and release stress. Visit Dale F.'s profile on Pinterest.
